The Essex Safeguarding Board defines the ten different categories of abuse as: Physical abuse, Domestic abuse, Sexual abuse, Psychological abuse, Financial or Material abuse, Modern slavery, Discriminatory abuse, Organisational abuse, Neglect and Self-neglect. More information on the different types of abuse and information on different types of safeguarding issues is available here.
Health and social care providers, and CQC inspectors, must understand how to decide whether arrangements made for the care and/or treatment of an individual who might lack mental capacity amount to a deprivation of liberty.
