Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Team (MARAT)
A Domestic Abuse Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Team (MARAT) came into effect in July 2016. The new team has been formed to accommodate the changes to the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) process and will ensure new domestic abuse cases are handled quickly and efficiently – under the new model every high level case will be heard at MARAC within two weeks of being reported. The new model should also increase agency representation, reduce duplication, improve information sharing and make actions clearer and more accountable.
The changes to MARAC will affect anyone currently working with high level domestic abuse families.
The new MARAT teams are made up of a stable membership of representatives from:
If your organisation is not on this list, your valuable contribution will still be fully utilised. You will receive information and will be able to make a contribution.
The MARAC process
From 4 July 2016 there are new teams permanently located in Chelmsford (for Essex) and in Southend (for Southend).
These new Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Teams (MARAT) replace the countywide community Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs) and the Joint Domestic Abuse Triaging Team (JDATT).
Changes to the process for core members and allied partners:
If you are an allied partner:
The research form is the means by which partners will receive notification of cases, providing a clear steer on the areas that the research should focus on.
The action plan will form the record of the meeting, clearly capturing the voice of the victim, the risks and the actions which will address them.
Completed referral forms can be sent via secure email or password protected only, to:
